WHAT THE HECK IS HIIT?

Unless you've been hiding under a rock for the last few years, you've no doubt heard the term HIIT being bandied around amongst your fitness loving friends.


High-Intensity Interval Training (aka HIIT) has become one of the hottest workout trends of the last few years. As the name suggest, it's intense, but boy is it worth the hard slog.



HIIT is all about repeated stints of high-intensity exercise followed by short periods of recovery. Designed to boost metabolism, and maximise your body's oxygen intake, you'll switch between going full pelt, to catching your breath and allowing the body to recover.


'High intensity' means we'll get your heart rate up into the zone of 70% to 100% of your maximum heart rate. We may keep this up for 20 seconds, or even a few minutes. The idea being, to push the body and get that heart pumping like it's never pumped before.


Our RAW HIIT class features a series of cardio-boosting drills on cutting-edge Technogym Skill Mills, Bikes and Benches, all driven by a motivational sound track curated by international DJ’s.


Expect to tackle push-ups, sit-ups, lunges, crunches, jumping jacks and squats. Yes, you will sweat, and oh, it will burn. But fitness sure never felt as fun!

The result? A boost to the blood flow, a serious calorie burn and an influx of feel good vibes that come from all of those freshly exercised endorphins. Nice.


Studies have shown that a 30 minute HIIT session, done three times a week can provide the same fitness perks as 60 minutes of cardio, done five times a week. Meaning not only will a HIIT class maximise your workout window, it's easy enough to squeeze into that already hectic schedule.
